Hosting and Server Logs
This forum is hosted by Nico Zieten at Germany/Brandenburg. When the website is accessed, the server may process technical log data such as IP address, date and time of access, requested page, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and HTTP status codes. This processing is necessary to deliver the website, maintain security, and diagnose errors.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log files are stored for 7 days and then deleted or anonymized, unless longer storage is required for security incidents or legal claims.
User Accounts
To use forum features, users may create a local account. The forum processes email address, username, display name, password hash, profile picture, signature, account settings, group memberships, and technical account identifiers. Passwords are not stored in plain text.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for account use and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for forum security and abuse prevention.
Forum Posts, Threads, Polls, Ratings, and Thanks
When users create threads, posts, polls, ratings, reputation entries, thanks, or request submissions, the submitted content is stored together with account information and timestamps. Public profile data such as display name, profile picture, main group, post count, thread count, ratings, and reputation may be visible to other users.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for providing the forum features and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for moderation, transparency, and abuse prevention.
Private Messages
Private messages are stored with sender, recipient, subject, message text, timestamps, and read status. They are intended to be visible only to sender and recipient, but administrators may need technical access when required for security, legal obligations, troubleshooting, or abuse handling.
File Uploads and Request Files
Users may upload permitted file types in forum posts or request submissions. Uploaded files are stored with file name, upload timestamp, submitting user, related post or request, comments, optional password marker, and rating information. Do not upload files containing personal data of third parties unless you are legally allowed to do so.
Files are retained for as long as the related post exists unless removed earlier by moderation or legal request.
Cookies and Local Storage
This forum uses technically necessary cookies for login sessions, authentication, security, anti-forgery protection, and account functionality. These cookies are required to operate the forum.
Optional cookies, analytics, tracking, embedded third-party media, or advertising services are not used. If optional services are added, they should only be activated after valid consent where legally required.
The forum may send account-related emails such as registration confirmation, password reset, security notifications, private message notifications, or system messages. Marketing emails are not sent.
Moderation and Abuse Prevention
Administrators and moderators may review, edit, hide, delete, or lock content if necessary to enforce the rules, protect users, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Edit history and moderation actions may be stored for accountability.
Recipients of Data
Personal data may be processed by Nico Zieten, nicozieten@web.de, and other technical service providers used to operate the forum. Data is only disclosed where necessary for operation, legal compliance, security, or with user consent.
International Transfers
Data is processed in Germany. If data is transferred outside the EU or EEA, appropriate safeguards such as EU standard contractual clauses are used where required.
Retention
Account data is stored as long as the account exists. Public posts and threads may remain visible after account deletion unless deletion is legally required or technically reasonable. Private messages and uploaded files are retained as long as the related account, message, post, or request exists. Server log files are deleted automatically after 7 days unless longer storage is required for security incidents or legal claims.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you may have rights to access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. To exercise your rights, contact nicozieten@web.de.
